what tires to use on Gehl grinder mixer?

I have a Gehl MX65 grinder mixer that has old 15" truck tires on it. One is losing air, so time to fix it, may as well finally put on good tires. The truck tires really bulge a lot when it's loaded down, and they're too side so I have the rims mounted backward to keep from rubbing the frame. Probably easily over a ton per tire when loaded.

What size tires originally were on the 15" rims? Looking at maybe a 7.60-15, that's rated at 2410lbs.

I had a 65,years ago. They weren't really a very large tire. I'd say you're about right with a 7.50 or so.

Most of the rims that I have around the farm I think are 5.5" wide, so I would be looking for something to fit that size.

As a man who sells tires this is what I would do If I was in your position. The 9.5L-15 or 11L-15 usally are purchased in a six ply. That is why they squat when placed on a machine like this. The origionals would probably have been 9.5L in a 12 ply they cost a little more but they will last and wont squat. If you need extra flotation 11L will work on a 5.5 wheel but will look a little funny. The big thing is to get a twelve ply.
