Plow share bent

Neighbor borrowed the 3-16" plow (don't know the manufacturer, though it's green) and hit a rock. The share on the front bottom has the tip bent down about an inch. If I heat it and pound it back straight would the steel be annealed and bend easier the next time or would it last? It gets little use, maybe 30 acres a year. I'd buy a new share but not knowing the manufacturer I wouldn't know what to buy.

Go to Shoups.com and check out their share pages. They have the bolt hole location and sizes listed. Check and find out which fits and have your neighbor buy a replacement.
If you need a 16" AC for a 387 bottom I have one I'd let go. Brand new one miss-shipped.

If it is not hard faced you can heat it and bend it back, if it's not bent too bad. We used to heat them all the time and bend them down to put a little more suck to them. It will be fine.

If it is hard faced, you will probably need to replace it.

Ditto...I never returned a borrowed piece of equipment that I didn't return in BETTER condition than it was when I borrowed it and I'd Expect mine to return at least "UN-Damaged"..

That just may be why I don't "Lend" any equipment out any more...!!

Back of the moldboard is stamped EX-14 (so it is a 14" and not 16". Share is three bolt and has part number F 39127 stamped on it. Any clues?

leave it alone
it will suck that plow down a lot quicker and work a lot better in hard dry ground.
UNLESS you have perfect conditions: as in sandy ground, very easy turning ground etc.
