JD 24T knotter

Hello,
One side of my 24T misses a lot of ties. Its like the knot is loose, then when the bale goes down the shoot it will come untied. One end of the twine has a knot in it, the other is just straight. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? Thank you.

Well I have a suggestion. As simple as it may sound, just check and make sure you have your string threaded through the correct way. My 24t started missing bales one evening right, just so happened I had my dad string it and it was wrong. Looked at chart on string cover and redone it, baler hasnt miss a bale sense.

If it is the needle twine, that is missed, is a good chance the twine finger on the top of the bale case not picking twine from needle, and bringing it fully into the knotter mechanism. Check twine finger for proper operation. Check needle for proper placement when it brings twine up. Check face of plunger for damage. Check hay dogs for proper operation.
Get a manual and study it for these adjustments.

It is pretty much always the tucker fingers. some one posted the same thing about six weeks ago and it turned out to be the tucker fingers.

I looked closer at the tucker fingers last night. On the side that wont tie, it appears the spring is much looser than the othr side. I bet that could be the problem. Thanks for all your help!
