AC side mounted mower question

Theres a threaded hole around 5in into/on the drive shaft housing, in front of the mounted pulley. I believe that there was a bolt that went into that hole, and when backed out onto something on the tractor, that tightened the belt that went from the pulley on the mower to the pulley onto the PTO shaft. Am I right? If so, where did it back up into on the tractor. Ive looked on my boys QWD and cant see anything but the front running drawbar, and it would have to be either lowered way down or taken off.

Does anybody know the size of that belt from the tractor pto pulley to the drive pulley on the mower?

Does anyone know anyone selling the pitman rod for that mower?

Thanks all.

You lack to much info. What tractor and what mower?? There where many mowers made to fit many machines. If for the B/C send me an e-mail and I can send you there manual for it since I have it in the computer

Im sorry. I thought that AC ment Allis Chalmers, and nothing else that I can think of. It came out on a WC AllisChalmers, and my boy wants to put it on his WD Allis Chalmers. WC & WD are model numbers for Allis Chalmers.

Pardon my asking, But HOW can you have the manual for it, when as you say, you don't know what mower and what tractor it goes on.

By the way, its an Allis Chalmers sickle mower.

Thanks for your quick reply

Well you see there is the tractor Model like the B or C or the WC or WD. Each had equipment made just to fit each tractor model. The manual I have is for the sickle mower to fit the B/C which is what I said. So you have to understand to have any body help you you have to tell them what tractor you have etc. Each tractor has it own equipment made to fit each model and many will work on others and many will not work on anything but that set model. Sort of like you can not put a starter made for a Ford car on a Chev car do you see what I am saying?????????

I'd be about positive that a WC mower will not fit on a WD tractor. I guess if you have it under the WD, then I'm wrong. The bolt should tighten the drive belt and I think runs up against the WC PTO gearbox. I have a manual for the WC mower somewhere, but can't seem to find it at the moment. As for a ptiman, I think you are on your own there. With some good measuring, you should be able to make one out of oak or some other hard wood.

Hate to hear that you think that it wont fit
I don't have it under the tractor. Im just walking by it, and trying to fit the puzzle together in my head sos when it does go on the tractor, I have most kinks worked out..

I can make a pitman, no problem there. I got the sickle out. When boy gets the money needed, ill take it into town to get it sharpened.

IF you find that manual, id sure be interested in it, what it has to say.

I don"t have any experience with mtg that mower on either WC or WD, but with all the similarities in the tractors, I"d expect it to fit. Would mower hand lift interfere with WD hand clutch, or pto box be in slightly different location?

I have one of those mowers. Mine is on an unstyled WC.
I don't have on owners manual per se, but I do have the set up instructions and parts list. On there it refers to this mower as "WC & RC Two Speed Mowing attachment".
To answer your other questions, the manual calls for a 5/8" x 3 1/2" bolt in that hole, with a lock washer and a jam nut. On my mower there is a round flat piece on the bolt head, about the size of a silver dollar. Not sure if it came that way or if the PO had it welded to the bolt. This bolt pushes against the bottom of the PTO gear box, as previously mentioned.
When I got this mower about 20 years ago, I got the belt directly from the local AC dealer. The no. on my belt is "Deutz Allis 70802957.
A few years after that I broke the pitman. At that time the dealer had one in stock.
The mower still works, but I haven't used it in quite a few years.
Hope this helps.
