N.H. Belt Bale Thrower

This is for a 54A bale thrower. Yes, crazy but true, my belt-type bale thrower is throwing belts! Let me explain- while baling very nice dry 2nd cut 40lb bales, my thrower “threw” the big double sided driving belt that drives the rollers that spin the flat bale throwing belts. This happened twice in 600 bales. This double sided belt is not new, but its not all used up either. Is it simply time for investing in a new belt or could it be something else? I have seen this happen when dealing with real heavy bales, but these are far from heavy. Could the tension spring that pulls the idler pulley back be ‘worn out”?

"Thrown" belts will not run true anymore. Time to replace. Their internals are twisted, and even if alignments are perfect, they"re not likely to stay on. Twisting a belt onto drives, rather than doing it the proper way by loosening pulleys, gives the same results. Make sure all bushings/bearings are not worn.

Adjust the spring to give more tension on the belt. If that doesn't help, replace the belt.
