McCormick Deering PTO binder

Our antique equipment club was donated a Mccormick Deering 4e pto grain binder. I noticed that it had been converted to a windrower as the packing arms and bundle carrier needed to be mounted. I volunteered to take it home and get it going. I have restored four ground drive binders and one pto binder. The sad part is I had not noticed till I got it home that the needle had been sawed off. If it were a ground drive it would have been no problem as I have the spare parts. The parts book shows two different numbers for the pto and ground drive needles. Any idea where to get one?

If you have the part number you could do a search at the obsolete parts warehouse. It's called The Parts Depot. Then have your IH dealer order it for you, if it is available. I broke a packer finger and my dealer found one there for me.
Good luck,
Jerry

Yes I have the parts number and will try the warehouse. My dealer does the same thing. I was hoping for someone with a donor machine or who might have one hanging in the machine shed. I have noticed the inventory of the parts warehouse is not what it used to be, I will try them tomorrow.

Any amish around ? They rebuild them all the time neighbor has a shop and hes got 3 in the yard and a fairly new new holland chopper he put a motor on.there are several web sites that will lead you to amish parts .on the chopper go figure they cut with a binder got loaders to put them on the wagon then haul in and dump in chopper (they build tables to fit on the choppers to carry the bundles in )

The part number is B 2482. I also need a spring for the bundle carrier SE 297. Probably could come up with a short list of things I could manufacture but would prefer the original parts if reasonable.
