john deere 45 combine

I had a 45 "roundback" with a 210 corn head. It didn't have the capacity or the power to handle 100+ BPA corn.
Since it didn't have a "quick attach" throat, it wasn't the easiest to change from corn head to small grain/bean head. Mostly a 2 person job...one person to drive, 1 person to watch from ground level. It did make clean soybeans, though.
 
Roundback?Hilo?SquareBack?They are slow.But perfect for a little guy.I had a 1965 square back.Loved it.313 cornhead(3x30");10' grain head.At one time,combined 70(trouble free) acres of corn with it.Sold it when I 'updated' to a 95.Wish i'd have kept it.....

We had a 45 for our 160 acre farm for a lot of years. Pretty good combine , definitely pretty slow in good corn , we had 2 row head , pretty easy to plug it up in weedy soybeans , but most fields are pretty clean now. Take a look at the cylinder bars to see how worn they are and that the concave hasn't had a rock run through it and bent it , the usual bearings and belts etc. A pretty fun piece of equipment to operate when it is going well. A *%#@! when it is packed from chopper to feeder house with giant cocklebur...LOL.
 
Round back with 210 head no problem in 100+ bu corn. 10' grain platform, last built in 63. First square back built in 64 with 165 engine, never put corn head on this one came with 12' head but put 10' from different machine on it. Later aquare back 180 engine used 10' head and 313 3-30" corn head with no prolblem with capacity, last built in 69. I Had a 62, 63, 65 and a 69
 
Thanks for all the help it is a square back looks good. I got it $2500. not 2 bad of a deal. about 80 miles from home. got a lowboy 2 pick it up 4 me on Friday THANKS

what part of the country are you located in ? I think my brother may still have the feeder house to adapt to the newer headers and some other parts. We are NE Indiana . email open.
