deere 926 discbine

It is a JD designed bar. The Kuhn bar is a single piece bar the JD bars are all segmented bars. Also the JD 926 came out about TEN years after they switched away from the Kuhn bar.

The Kuhn bars where last used on the 1370/1470 machines. Starting with the JD 920/930 where all JD designed bars.

A JD 926 has the second generation of the JD bar. The segments have angled ends where they bolt together. You can take out a middle segment without taking the entire bar apart. You can take the bolts out and rotate the segment out.

The JD bars are much easier to work on than the Kuhn bar.
 
Depends... it would have to be very nice to bring that in my opinion. I looked at one here that I could buy for 4500... about 10 years old, knocked around a bit but otherwise quite functional. I would think for the money you're talking it better have a gyro hitch and power tounge. The one I looked at had neither... I looked at a couple of Kuhn's that were center pull, 10' cut in nice shape for ~7500 on the ask... so I really can't see spending that kind of money on a side pull Deere.
There's no such thing as a discbine that won't blow up 2 minutes after you take it home or a dealer that will stand behind it... so beat the price down before you leave the lot.

The JD 926 is a good machine. If it is in real nice shape then the $8250 in not far out of line. Anything around $7500 would be more than fair.
 
Respectfully I don't know where some of you come up with your "value" numbers. A 926 is a great modern machine, tractor house right now has the cheapest at $8,200 and $16,000 the highest. I know asking and getting are two different things but I would expect to spend at least between 8-10 for a solid 926. $4500 Rod? your are either mistaken, the seller was a widow whom didn't know what she had, or it was hammered beyond belief.
