710 semi mount plow

Recently purchased a 710 semi-mount 5 bottom 16 inch plow.
Was wanting to make it into a 3 bottom and wondered if
anyone had attempted this or had any pointers for me. It looks
to be a pretty easy task but was a little worried about the
center of pull on the plow. Is that something that will be a
problem. Any advice would be appreciated. If it is something
that won't work I don't want to cut up a perfectly good five
bottom. Thanks

If it"s like the 720 there is no need to cut anything, at least now. The main frame is drilled so you can remove 1 or more bottoms and move the tail wheel assembly fwd and shorten the steering linkage, which is also already drilled. By removing one bottom the frame will stick out to the left, but not beyond the gauge wheel.

If you take two bottoms off and the frame sticking out is not an issue, then you can always bring it back to five bottoms.

I had a 720 5-18, added the extra bottom, and after a few years it sagged at the joint, so I welded the extension solid. Later went back to 5 bottoms for a while when the big tractor went down, then back to six.

One of my boys and I cut a 710 four bottom down to a three four or five years ago. Welded blank in frame end and shortened rear wheel tubing. Looks like factory and plows well.
