Walt.... the wobble box is what runs the sickle on a haybine. the belt runs off the gearbox up above and down to the wobble box which in return makes the sickle go back and worth
 
To be accurate, it's ONE METHOD of getting reciprocation motion to a haybine sickle bar. There are other ways that appear to be a lot longer lasting to me.
