Tires for an IH #330 disk

I posted athis message here a couple of days ago, but now I can't find it, so I assume that it somehow got deleted. If anyone saw and responded to my previous posting, please do so again.

I have a 14' IH #330 disk that I bought about a year ago and I need to get new tires for it. The tires that came on it were an E78-14 on one side and an F78-14 on the other. The rims are 14" x 5" and appear to be original. This size rim is listed (among others) in the on-line parts catalog for the disk. My question is what size tire should I get. The E78 tire is 7-1/4" wide at the sidewalls and with this tire clearance from the leg on the lifting axle is 5/8". The F78 tire is of course wider and has even less clearance. And both tires have been rubbing against the arm. Neither the owner's manual nor the on-line parts catalog mentions tire size. And efforts to find tire dimensions on-line have not been sucessful. Any help would be appreciated.

About any 14" tire that will fit on the rim and are a matched set size-wise will work just fine. As some mentioned in the other post it was very common years ago to order a new implement without any tires and then put used ones on. All they had to do was be sound and hold air. The implements were not heavy to lift so used tires worked just fine. Very commonly done. This being said, used 14" tires are not as easy to find as they once were. You may end up having to find new ones. Automotive tires or implement tires will both work fine. Mike

Your other post is still there.

Have the tires rubbed the paint off the lift arms and are the tire's inside sidewalls badly damaged from rubbing? If the tires are OK and there are only rub marks on the paint, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you want to, you could work out the tire width that gives you the clearance you want.
1. Measure the clearance between the rim's bead and the lift arm.
2. Subtract the tire clearance you want.
3. Multiply the remainder times two.
and
4. Add the rim width (5 inches?).

I.E.
1. 1.75 inches rim clearance.
2. Minus 1 inch desired tire clearance
= .75 inches
3. X 2
= 1.50 inches
4. Plus 5 inch rim width
= 6.50 inch tire width
times 25.4mm per inch
= 165mm wide tire.

Good luck.
