New style knotter install problems

336 baaler, knotter closet to trip actuator side of chute broke. Got newr style knotter and sleeve. Sleeve pins to shaft where cotter pin held old knotter frame (drive side) shim wsahers. problem is when newer frame is set/shimmed on sleeeve to knotter cam gear its over too far towards drive side of shaft and won't bolt to lower knotter frame support, and its well into needle cut out in chute, and needle will be hitting fame pretty hard. Can the whole lift arm shaft that drives knotters cam gears be moved(shimmed) back towards twine boxes to realign to needle slot in chute? about 1/4 inch it needs to go bach to twine box side. yes i realize other knotter will also have to be shinned to move towards drive side of shaft to compensate for this issue.

I had a 336 that had rusted fairly bad under the knotters. I had to remove the knotters in order to repair the rust damage. When reassembling I reached the conclusion that all that mattered in alignment is that the needles can get to the right clearances with the knotters. mine worked well after putting it back together and if you use your needles as a guide I don't see where you will go wrong.
