what are some opinions on the gooseneck bale trailers? been thinking about getting one tomake moving hay faster,, the only downfall I see is I have to get a ride back to truck after droping tractor off. those that have them do you like them?

Saw a self loader demoed at Four States Farm show this weekend.Pretty cool setup.Hauled 7 5x6's.Good Luck.

They can be really nice, but there are a few things to consider. You will have a hard time making a nice row without restacking. You need to haul twine bales before the twine gets weak or they will unroll when you dump. Since you push the bales on from the rear, you need a good emergency brake if you have an automatic transmission so you don't damage the transmission pushing on it. I have seen them bowed front and back of the axles from hauling silage bales. You can move a lot of hay and stay legal for width.

I am in the need for a flat bed goose neck, just broke the 6 bale trailer from over loading it with silage bales and going down a mountain. I don't know about you but I thought about one of those goose neck bale trailers, but you are limited to pretty much hauling bales. With the flat bed I can load the tractor on the trailer on go to my destination in one trip and start loading bales. That is my thought.
