Gehl 3610 skidloader help needed please

Hello everyone,
I am in need of some mechanical/electrical advice please. This will be long, so I will try to explain my mess the best I can. The issue I am having is that the skid loader engine runs only as long as I hold the ignition key on in the "start" position. As soon as I let go of the key the engine dies. I have the 3 cylinder diesel Isuzu 3KR1 engine in it. I have a 1 year old battery in the machine, I thought the alternator was my problem, so I had that tested, it was fine. I did have new bearings and brushes put in the alternator as long as it was out. I just installed a brand new ignition switch in today thinking that was my problem. No, that wasn"t it. Engine dies when I let off the key just the same as the old ignition switch did. All the fuses are good that I can find. I have looked over the wire harnesses so many times for problems, but don"t find any. When I sit in the cab as I start the engine, I hear some kind of "clicking" sound behind me to the left either in the corner of the cab or in the engine area. I can"t pinpoint this exact noise myself. But it does the same noise every time the engine dies when I let off the ignition key. I checked the 2 wire harness plugs in the corner of the inside of the cab. The back plug seems to have a wire lug/terminal broke off but I am not sure it makes electrical contact when the harness is plugged in again. I also had the starter relay tested from the "dash" panel and it tests ok. My operator"s manual doesn"t help me and I have down loaded the shop manual on my computer to with no help. I am really stumped with this issue. I really believe it is an electrical issue. And electrical diagrams are like algebra to me, they don"t make sense. I appreciate any ideas/advice anyone may have for me. I am trying to not have to take it to the local dealer if I can help it. Thank you everyone.

I forgot to say that the "clicking" noise I hear is what seems to make the engine shut down. I have no idea if that is true, but that is what I can tell when I am in the cab. Thank you.

That clicking noise you hear is the fuel shut off solenoid on the injection pump located on the left side of skid. What is happening is the solenoid is not holding the rack so the engine gets fuel.Reason why when hold the key and it stays running. You need to check for power at the solenoid with a test light key in the on position. There will be three wires. Red is 12 volts, black is ground, white is pull. If you want remove the solenoid from the pump and turn the key plunger should suck in and hold. More then likely you have a bad fuel shut off solenoid.

With a gas I"d suspect the key switch cutting off power, but since it"s a diesel...I"d agree with WI Cowman. Is this the same issue you posted about a couple weeks ago?

Does the shop manual show this in the book, do you know? Is this solenoid fairly easy to identify and get at it? Thank you so much for all your help. I will have to investigate this. I appreciate your time sir.

I found a picture of the solenoid in my service parts manual. I am going to see if my local dealer has one of these in stock tomorrow. Thank you for all your help sir.
