Surge SP11 compessor

I"m hoping somebody out there has a lead for me. Have a Surge SP11 compressor. I have as backup to the main milking compressor, which as luck would have it spun a bearing this AM. I"m looking for a manual for the SP11, I know I have one SOMEWHERE on this farm but can"t seem to locate it and even the wife is starting to give me sideways looks as I walk around talking to myself about it. I know it needs a 3.25" sheave on a 1/2 horse motor to pull 5 cfm, but is it at 1750 rpm or 3400? and regular non-detergent oil or something else? Thanks for the help

Took me a minute to realize you are talking about a VACUUM PUMP!

They used a 1725 RPM motor.

Surge "vacuum pump" oil was originally spec'ed.

Used to be able to get generic vacuum pump oil in 'most any farm supply store, not around here any more, maybe in dairy country???

I've heard of guys using 10-30 or even 15-40 motor oil in them with OK results.

YAMMV!

Thanks Bob -- was also going to ask which way the pump spun ...until i noticed the big arrow on the head casting, folks at surge doing their level best to make it idiot proof. Amazing what you forget, knew it cold when I put the pump in the barn 15 years ago

A friend used to have an refridgeration repair business. He suggested synthetic oil on my vaccum pump. I tried it, and it works fantastic.
