John Deere elevator

Can someone tell me what to look under on the JD parts site to find the breakdown for an older 18" wide elevator. Looking at one and would have to tow guessing 75 mile so would like to know what bearings are in the wheels, they are spoke type.

Not sure if I remember right, it's been a lot of years past, but I was thinking a roller type, not positive. Take your grease gun and grease often.

I towed an Owatonna about that same distance. Towed fine at about 45 mph. Checked hubs several times but bearings never heated up. I wouldn't be afraid to tow it that distance.

IF it has spoke wheel then it has straight roller bearings not tapered roller bearings.

The distance is not an issue with stops for grease. The issue is that you should not pull it much over 20 MPH. Then stopping every 10 miles for grease and cool down.

Why not set it down and haul it. Would save lots of time and trouble.
I paid a dollar for mine. It still had the drag and upper hopper on it. Wouldn't sell it for anything right now.

Here's parts schematic for model 50. Brgs(5129SC) are identical for the 18-1/2 wide elevator. Brgs are still available from JD. I wish you luck on towing as cage type roller brgs are designed for highway towing as you probably know.
