JD Knotter Frame questions...

in JD's patrts book, it shows new knotter frames as a 2 piece unit, top of it is cap to lower part with bolts holding them together, around the shaaft the drives knotter cam wheels. i looked at one one a baler, its newer style but is cast with a "V" knotch on knotter top both sides of shaft location, with bolts thru top to bottom part and no sepration, cast as one piece. ? is this designed to be able to break alomg the "V" notchs to replace them in 2 pieces??

It is already broken. Makes for easier servicing of the knotter off the baler.

For some older balers it requires a sleeve inside because the knotter drive shafts are three different sizes over the years.

NOT sure, but take the bolts out and see what happens.

i tapped the casting lightly with hammer it broke clean & easily along 'V' notch. Yea i do need to get sleeve kit for installing on another baler. So no matter what, lift arm shaft needs to be disassembled to install sleeve, but future service of it will be easier removing knotter. Thanks.
