I assume your talking about a New Holland baler. I just looked at my manuel, way to many steps for me to type on this comment. You really need the manuel to set the timing. Sorry, Your probably in a jam right now. Maybe someone can scan and post the timing section. gobble
 
There are several sets of timing marks.They all need to line up.A certain # of links is required-no more,no less.A repair like that is too critical to just 'wing it.A small error could result in several hundred dollar in avoidable repairs.A book at40 dollars is cheap........
 
Don't know on that baler but on my 271 it has the timing instructions on the twine box lid. I had to main drive chain break on it and with that info it was simple to time.
