Got a ford loader on an Farmall H. Want to convert the trip bucket to hyd cylinders. Anybody done this already?

Sure.No problem. All you need is a cylinder(s),correct valveing, some hoses,a bit of steel...Just figure out the correct angles/placement for things and get 'er done!

BTDT and it is not as easy as one would think it is. Angles and all so the bucket dumps as it should both when down low and also up high

You might want to price trading loaders before you start. If you have to purchase many major components it adds up fast.

Do some planning or a layout to get the cylinder bore, stroke and angles right so it dumps properly and can still tilt up a full load from any working position. If your loader had a hydraulic bucket version, try to look at pictures or the real thing to copy that setup.

I did one on a IH 560 a few years ago. It was really pretty easy. I used a 16" stroke cylinder. Made brackets and used one cylinder in the center. I installed the cylinder retracted with the bucket all the way back and it tilted forward enough to dump it. It worked great.

I made my reversed AC WD back in the late 70s, and put two-way cyl on the bucket. I think the bucket cyl were 22 inches with maybe a 16 inch stroke. (I"m not home now to check- actually in Vancouver). Anyway, draw some diagrams of pivots of various lengths and calculate what size cyl you need. Figure degrees of tilt for rollback and dumping. Laying out to scale on paper gives you an idea of what works.
