New Holland 268 Baler

Can anyone tell how to check to see if the needle yoke on a 268 baler is sprung I can"t get the needles set correctly. Thanks

Look for some 'wrinkled' paint. That will be indicitive of a twist. When in the home position, measure from yoke to bale case. The measurement should be the same on both sides.A good thorow examination is needed. However,if it's bent so slightly that you cant tell,You should be able to adjust the needles to correct position.

Most needles are made of maleable iron, which means that they can be bent without heat to make them align with the knotters.

I could never quite get one of the needles on my 273 to line up right with the two bolts. One time I took them off and one was drilled differently. A little grinding and filing did it.
