Still lookin'....JD 330 baler

The Case IH 8420 I was looking at didn"t work out, so Im still looking for a smaller round baler. Found a JD 330, 4x4, still on the farm. Owners are just selling out. Hydraulic tie, belts are suppose to be good. What else should I be looking for on it? Never owned anything Deere that has moving parts. I know they are getting some age on them. Asking price is $4500.

Check wear on the belts. I would rather have the larger model baler that could make a bale any size between 3 ft tall to 6 ft tall. Larger baler also has a bale monitor and will automatic wrap bale

I have a 335 that we bought 19 years ago new and this spring was the first I ever had a breakdown in the feild.A spring on the belt tension broke but dealer had a new one next day.We have done thousands of bales of hay and corn stalks with it and some hi moisture hay as well.I have replaced the drive chains and rebuilt the pickup three times. It still has the original belts but they are wore out.Mine has electric tie.New belts will cost about $1000 but then you will have belts that will last for years.

The JD 330 is a good simple baler, real good for a smaller tractor. Just look at the belts as they are the most expensive wear item. The rest is just common sense. Worn or broken pickup teeth, bars, thin baler sides, etc.
