Over the last couple years I've been chasing a few of the gremlins in the Massey #12 baler we have and bit by bit I've been getting better performance.
For grins I bought a bale of poly twine and tried it. Knife side needs some adjustment as the knot sometimes would stay on the billhook and then become a Siamese twin with the next knot. After about 40 basis I switched that side back to 9000 sisal.
The other side seems to handle it fine although I think I could still tweek it a little more. I gotta do some more digging in the book because on the knife side it doesn't always pull the cut end all the way through the knot so it has 1 cut end and a loop, instead of both cut ends sticking out. Still, out of 650 bales today, 2 blew open when I hooked them off the baler, 3 more were lost on a bad twine switchover. Had a few bad ones right away because a little grease wound up on the knotter parts and took a few ties to rub off. A few more here & there and a couple bad knots. Used to be worse. Every time we get it out I get a little
better.
