woods disc mower

came across a woods dmc 7 disc mower (9 footer $1250) today that was a trade in. i have a couple questions about the mower though ( i have never owned or worked on one, have ran one a good bit but never worked on one). the end two cones have a good bit of play in them, they guy that traded it says that is because the nuts have backed loose and just needs tightening but people will say anything. what would be worse case here, bad bearing or could it be worse? i have a video to upload to show the movement and also on the belts, the pto end of the mower had 4 belts but the 4th belt to the rear of the machine was loose and i looked on the other end and best i could thru the guard there is only 3 pulleys not sure if the 4th broke off or what? could i just take the 4th belt off? they guy that works here said he had ran them with just 2 belts. what yall think about it should it get it or pass?

I wish you lived closer if you're looking for one. I've got a Vicon 9 foot trailing. It uses two of the 3 point lift arms but is on wheels like a pull type haybine. That thing cuts like nobody's business, but I'm parking it. It lays the hay out so wide that my Kuhn gyro rake and Gehl 8 wheel V rake, neither one, will pick the hay up worth a darned. I love cutting with it,but raking about frustrates me to tears. I'm getting the Hesston conventional out to cut the rest of my hay.
I'd let this one go for $1500 if somebody wanted it.

From what you say about everything that's wrong,in all honesty,I'd say it's a pig on a poke.
You can get way too much money in it in a hurry. I'd keep looking.

I see some simularities to the NH HM236 (6 disc), may just be that, but I am thinking Woods did not build that mower, as NH did not build the HM236, I am thinking Sitrex built both mowers. I run a HM235 (5 disc) and the blades have an "S" logo on them.

You may be able to get parts...but I'd study that one out...

$1250 is cheap for a disc mower....but it's cheap for a reason.

As far as belts, yes it will run with ONE belt, but fewer belts will burn up in a hurry in hard cutting with lots of PTO HP... NH has 3 belts on the 5 disc, but 4 on the 6 disc.....
