SIP 135 Drum Mower

Hi everyone, I am contemplating the purchase of a SIP Drum mower to mow 5 acres of grass hay. Does anyone know where to get parts for these units? I don"t want to pick it up unless there is a dealer in the US. I am located in Washington State.

I have MinosAGRI 190. Got it from Hodges Farm Equipment - Fenton MI. (http://www.hodgesfarmequipment.com/) Is the same machine offered by HayTools.com (http://www.haytools.com/drum_mowers.htm)

Have only broken one part, and Hodges ordered it through Hay Tools. I get my knives through the local TSC - $10 a set - same ones used on some disc mowers.

Suggest you google your make and model, will probably give you something more local to you. Drums are not real common around this part of the country - Most of the guys want extremely wide discs or haybinds. My drum meets my needs very well, and I can cut a lot of hay fast! Maybe not as fast as the BTOs, but I'm thrilled after years of fighting with sicklebars. Am sure there will be many more drums in the smaller operations once they catch on, and more farmers see them.

Thanks for the Info. I did try a Google search. So far the closest dealer I have found is in Canada. This has me somewhat worried. Somebody must sell these things though because it isn't the only one I have seen. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of parts are interchangeable with other brands. The mower I saw is only $800.00 and looks like it is in good shape. So I might chance it anyway. I sure like what I have read about these things so far.

I have recently caught on to the drum mower thing. I am tired of my sickle mower haybine but can't justify a discbine. After reading lots of reviews, I couldn't find a bad review from somebody that actually owned one. I bought myself a Reese model 2400 drum mower. I haven't cut any field hay with it yet, but have run it down a field driveway and have cut my road ditched with it. Seems like this idea could work. I am struggling a bit to get the far outside of the mower to lift when it is in the cutting position, seems this is common. I really don't like that I can't lift it up to clear a rock or something that I may come up upon. Other than that, I think this could be the ticket. One more thing, the 3 point hookup, I would prefer a trailed machine, but Reese does not put a tedder attachment on its trailed models. I'm real excited to get it in the field for a try, but the rain just keeps coming. Good luck with yours, I bet you will love it.

Where are you located, Joe? I got my haymax from carter in TN, But then they broke up, Not sure what happened to them. Google Haymax or Haymag drum mowers, both are made in Turkey, I think...

I'm in SW Washington State. I have an SIP but think mine is a 165. I have had it for 7 years I think. I had to replace the drive shaft a couple years ago. That was no problem it takes a standard drive shaft. Other than that I chance blades frequently. I think the main cause of the blade issue is just too many mole hills. But they are cheap and easy to change. Takes significanly less power to operate with new blades! Mine came from the MF dealer in Oregon City. I don't know if they still sell them. They ordered mine and it was in within a few days. I would never go back to a sicklebar. Hope to start cutting with mine tomorrow.

I live in Prosser, its a little town in south central WA. I really appreciate all the reply's I am going to go get the mower this Saturday.

I've SFI (from Texas) 135 Drum mower and it's a dandy for me. I only have 1-1/4 acres to mow (alfalfa) and I live in Pasco, just up the road from you. That seems a reasonable price. I use the A&I CM120 blades. I did install a 1" spacer ring one bottom drag disc and the inner hub. That gets the blade out of the dirt, they were just wearing away to soon. bjr

Dave, see my post above. Haymaxx is the new (old) dealer for CCM. Apparently a family business split up... Guy running the business (think it is Bob) knows the drum mowers well. Have talked to him several times by phone. He is a fountain of knowledge.
