Well guys haying season is here in Westernt Nebraska AGAiN !!! Weather getting wild as many of you know Eastern Nebraska little town Pilger,NE GOT hammered by TWO tornadoes Monday after noon with lots of rain and hail. So have we. Winter wheat beat to the dirt. Nothing left but stumps !! Anyway, I appreciate TXJims and other help on out JD 224 T baler whenever I have a misunderstanding of the book on whatever I need help on. Whether it be parts or a brain fart on my part. Anyways, we baled fifty five bales and didnt miss a tie !!! Thanks again and I hope one of these time I will be much help here on YT !as some of these great guy and gals have helped me !!! Have a SAFE AMD HAPPY BALING season !!!

55 bales? Not even gonna break a sweat. Last fall I put up close to 700 heavy bales in a couple hours with a 224T. I had a couple broken bales but the guys loading broke all but 1-2 of those I am pretty sure.

Ya I know, 55 isn't much but it was just mustard and cheatgrass. Thought about a gallon of gas and a match but Didnt want to burn the place to the ground. We're going to burn the bales soon. Then plant grass seed where this junk was. We've been getting rained on and waiting for 50 acres of grass alfalfa to dry out so we can swath with the JD 800 then bale it with the 224T using my 1944 JD A. Aughts to be fun !!!

I guess so, but as much as I love my two 224T balers I would find something that could go faster if I had to bale that much. I do about 20 acres of hay...more than enough. Takes all afternoon to bale it and you won't start any earlier if you know what's good for you. Not a lot by some peoples standards but too much for me!!! Have fun with it.

i used to have a 14 T. It is awesome when you bale and it goes right. [Tieing that is] Kind of like a miracle of nature or engineering.Wish i had kept that baler now. Great people on these forums!

Here's a picture of out 224T when we got it. Now it's hot new knives, pickup teeth, new bearings. Ready to go !!!

I agree I use a 14T on 22 acres it's a job but close
to miraculous when you turn around and see a long
line of bales. Every year I catch myself marveling
at the ingenuity of the knotters - single string
wrap, tie, cut and do it again. not enough credit to
the guy(s) who thought it up, more so when you read
about the effort and manpower that went into getting
forage put up prior to. IMHO
