NH 850 round baler gate problems

The original subject was "NH 850 round baler gate problems".

I am having the same prob with the tail gate opening during bailing. How did you fix it? I put new lockout valve on and changed a leaky cylinder. It's still not fixed. 850 baler. Help

Does your tractor have enough hydraulics to hold it shut? I had a poor relief valve on my tractor, and it wouldn't hold it shut. Next thing is the hydraulic cylinders might be leaking past.

That would be where I would start looking.

When I has an old 850 I had the same problem. My problem was fixed when I cleaned my hydraulic cooler and changed my hydraulic fluid and filter. The problem was all in the tractor. I had a buddy with an 851 who had the same problem and the same fix. Yours may be totally different though....

it the valve on your tractor leaking by,,mine does same i know it is the tractor.

My 851 does the same thing. i just tap the hydraulics to reclose the tailgate once while making the bale and it stays shut to finish tying the bale.

There is a screw setting for the lock out valve. I dont remember how it is set but that setting holds the gate shut. any leak in the cylinder also causes the the same problem but it sounds like you may have fixed that problem.

P.S> while im typing i'm thinking the screw goes in to hold the gate in place. If you try this only go one round at a time until you figure it out
