i have a JD 44 manure spreader. the last time i used it was about 15 or 16 years ago. i was thinking of getting it out and putting a new floor and sides in it. the part i am curious about is the bed chain. it needs a new one before it can be used again. is the chain available anywhere? any idea about the cost? it im not going to bother working on it unless i can get a chain for it. any thoughts on where i could get a chain for it? thanks.

Check with Shoups in Illinois. They have a pretty good selection, and then you might be able to find the components locally.

I don't know about where you live, but around here old manure spreaders are in high demand for woods wagons, sap wagons and such. Anything with a decent box will bring $300 or a bit more and any solid frame will bring $200 or a bit more. The last one that went at an auction here was a knight with a solid box and it brought $300.

Yeah. Had one onct. Whole back end fell off with a load on it. We cut it up for scrap. Did wind up with two chitty chains.....
