I am thinking about taking the plunger out of my
baler. Is it a big job? It looks like I can remove
the hay wedges and feeder drive pin, block the hay
dogs out of the way and pull it out the back. Do I
have to remover the knife or both knives? TIA

I don't think so. I pulled the plunger on my 68 and other moving the wedges and hay dogs and letting off the tension on the plunger adjustments it was pretty straight forward.

That should do it... Sometimes the plunger will bind up a bit on the way out. I usually just hook a chain through it and pull it out with a skid loader or something.

Just did my NH269 I pulled it out with the knifes still in place. I removed the hay dogs as I wanted to replace the springs and pins on those anyway. Removed the top bale tension bar and the Hydroformatic cylinder. Came right out after that. I don't put a lot of hrs on my baler so I bought the Import plunger bearings. $6 apiece from a place called "Locate Bearings" those are the six smaller bearings, the one bigger bearing with stud attached I had pay full price from New Holland. I put new knifes on and reshimed the clearances when I went together with it. It made the baler work a lot better. Good luck. bjr
