New idea cutditioner recent purchase

I recently purchased a 270 mower. Thought it was ready to go. New bearing was put on the outside of flail drum. But they didn't replace the cover flanges that keep grass from wrapping around the shaft. I just got back from Agco dealer. Parts are discontinued. Has anyone else had simular deal and what did you do to fix it? Tnks

That's just a piece of strap iron with two tabs on it that bolt to the end of the machine. Shouldn't be too big of a deal to bend a piece by wrapping it around the high flange on the end of the shaft to make one.

I made a cover for the outside and tried it again. It wrapped again. On the other end of the drum, inside the bearing, there is a shield that us cupped to close tolerances and I am thinking that is the piece I need to make. ???

OK,I think I know which one you mean. Did New Holland make a guard like that for the conditioning rolls in their haybines? I know my Gehl baler has them on the rolls, but they'd be a lot smaller than you need.

I believe you're right about the NH having shields for thiers. This one is like a flange. Been searching the net for something that might be tweeked. I did find a wall flange for a chimney that is just what I need, except if may be too thin.
