Do any of you have experience with a New Idea no till corn planter? I found one for sale looks just like a JD 7000 they said parts inter change its finger pickup. I need something to plant corn and soybeans on 30" rows have been drilling beans but like the looks of planted beans better depth control and seed placement and may plant some corn next year. Beans are in the ground this year just thinking about next year. Thanks

They're actually a Kinze with Deere units. I passed up the deal of a lifetime on one about two months ago. Don't know how high the other guy would have gone, but there was one on an auction,8 row,3 Rawson coulters per row,dry fertilizer that had never been used, brought $1400.

Wow.

Yea, Kenzie sounds right, don't know that Agco ever made anything comparable with JD?

Kinda sorta almost, but not quite hardly. Not a 5100,but for a short time after the White/New Idea merger, they sold the White 6000 series as the charcoal and light gray New Idea 9000 series planters.

If it has the finger pickup,it should be a Kinze built.
The White built New Idea planters were 9700,9800 and 9900 series planters.

YES!!! We have one.....it is a JD 7000 planter. It is not a Kinze model. Ours has JD bolts in it. Look close, you will see the JD stamp in the bolt heads.

New Idea Planter built by JD sold at a caseIH dealer.....lol

Ours has been a good planter....it is a 7000 JD

I had one- and it was a great unit. Most of the parts are interchangeable, and when I say most- I mean it. The unit mounted coulters were Yetters. But it was every bit as good as the Deere.

We put martin till spike wheels on one side in the back last year, and drag chains on it. I want to put row cleaners on the front for next year. Ours is a four row wide, and no tilling into hard ground it is necessary to add weight to the planter to get it in the ground. I have had the dang thing slide without added weight on it.

Well that pretty much describes the difference between the Kinze-New Idea and the JD 7000. The K-NI has a heavier frame and markers and heavier down pressure springs. I had a 900 4 row wide and later a 6row narrow. Easily no-till in almost any kind of ground, no additional weight necessary.
