MF dynabalance 3 point sickle mower

I have one of these and am using to cut a little hay. I got it working good and it cuts good. I have it on a kubota or JD 2240 as it is PTO and 3 point moounted.

My question is that in cutting mode with the bar down horizontal I cannot lift the bar much higher than 5-6 inches off the ground even with the lift arms all the way up. Is this normal? It would seem you would want a little more height to clear any rocks or potential obstructions.

Thanks for any helpful info.

wally, do you have a manual for it? It tells you what to adjust. I have 2 and the blade raises about a foot or more when raised to the full UP position. Good Luck!

Yes a manual helps but the ajustment to lift the cutter bar is that big spring and the long bolt going thru it. You should be able to buy a manual at a MF dealer, i did. That is a big mower and takes a big tractor to lift it more than a few inches off the ground.

I reread your message. A sickle bar slides along the ground, just a couple inches high. The height is adjusted by the shoes on each end of the bar, but they will only raise it to 3 or 4 inches max. The rock guards on the blade are to protect the bar from damage.
