Vicon discbine

Does anybody know anything about a Vicon KM-321 discbine? There's one coming up on an auction. The New Holland 411 or 1411,whatever it was that I owned for a few weeks 20 years ago soured me to discbines practically for life. Just wondered if this Vicon was any better than that !@#%^&*(!

Vicon has a fair rep around here, but I'd look for a JD or Kuhn first, Randy. Deere's use a Kuhn cutterbar, and they're about bullet proof. I just traded a JD on a new Kuhn- it had a Kuhn cutterbar and I have had no trouble at all with it other than a driver shaft in 23 years....

I used one for two seasons. I liked it, especially with the hydraulic pivot I could steer it around corners. It cut well, but then sections of the conditioning rolls that are polyethylene broke off. At the beginning of the third season one of the discs lower bearings went so I went shopping and got a NH 411 which I have run for the last seven years. That 321 has really got to have some age on it. If you get serious about it check for up and down and side to side play in all of the discs. One of the best things about hem is that with the belt drive it has fewer gear boxes than a shaft drive. I would price new belts and remove a belt inspection cover and check belt condition.
