Rollers in Mower Conditioner

I was recently reading in Farm Show someone suggested using the paint on bed liner on something - I don't recall what but it gave me an idea. The rollers on my MoCon are working but in pretty bad shape - cracks mostly. I was thinking of painting them with bed liner to hold them together. Any thoughts on this?

Temporary fix at best. I pulled my rubber off and welded 1" angle steel to the roller. Heated up the bar and bent it to the contour as it rolled around. Dirty job, but not too bad. They'll last longer than I will now...

I would love to see photos of that, Running a 477 haybine with rollers that are still good for now. Are there photos of yours somewhere?

Mine's a 469, but same idea. I didn't post pics here, but I stole the idea from an Aussie guy on this site. Don't remember if there were pics posted or not. A search on 469 roller repair or rebuild might turn something up.

If worse comes to worse, shoot me a real email addy and I'll see if I can get you some. Wasn't a real bad job. I peeled as much rubber as I could off, then sandblasted the rest to clean it up and prepare for welding. Just be sure to clean up the old hay out of the frame before you start makin' sparks!

The blasting was the worst part.
