looking at a jd-920 mo-co disk mower is it a good mower anything to look out for what dose mo-co mean I use a NH-488 now but like to try a disk mower that why I am looking at it thanks cdv

(quoted from post at 23:24:14 05/31/14) All the JD mo-co I ran were 1000 rpm machines. The ground speed will double so can cover more acres an hr or day

1000 rpm vs 540 rpm on pto will in no way give the capability of doubling ground speed as the knives(blades) & conditioner turn the same speed at either pto speed as. @ 1000 the cutter pto shaft spins nearly twice as fast as @ 540

My neighbors have had good results using JD 920 cutters.

I replaced a 488 with a JD 920 with impellers. Clean cutting and very reliable. Mine has never given me any trouble. It is very hard to pull though. I use 110 hp and in heavy hay it struggles. I also don't care for impellers. They are very rugged, but I don't feel they dry the hay quite as well as rolls. Overall it's been a very good mower for the money.
