800 Cyclo last time I hope

I ran thru some of the ideas y'all have thrown my way. Headed out hoping to put it onto the field but I could see from the road the dark half circle in the field where it joins the lawn and it is just a bit too wet there still so I am going to wait a day. I played with the pressure control valve a little and actually picked up almost 2 oz. Brings me to about 5 oz with the drum loaded. Turned the drum so one row went under the rollers. Eight seeds hit the ground behind the planter. Behind the planter I have a pretty good breeze coming thru each tube. So I lowered the planter to just above the ground and rolled the tractor forward. Result was 8 rows with good spacing. Time to give it a rest and get it done! You guys were right....it IS working. Thanks for all the help!

5 oz might be enough to hold the seed in the drum sitting still or in really smooth field conditions but in rough conditions I think some of the seed will bounce of the holes . I like to see at least 9 oz , but I am strictly no-till. Deluxe

I run a 900 4 row and find that 5-6 oz work just fine..in fact I get the best singulation at the lower pressures...quite often rivaling the newer green and blue planters...good enough for me...they can have all their fancy moniters and such..only probem you may have at that pressure is getting the seed thru the longer seed tubes, but it sounds like your doing ok

I am. Funny you mention it. The service manager at the dealership also farms and plants with a Cyclo. He has been telling me that air pressure only is an issue with holding seed in drum. He says GRAVITY moves it thru the tubes. I pointed out that the longer tubes are horizontal for most of their run but he was pretty firm. May only say 5 oz but the air is blowing out hard enough to move the wheat stubble away from the ground below it. I think it is likely my gauge is reading a little off too. I tested it...it plants. I think he is wrong. I think the air pressure assists the gravity and keeps things moving.

I can do no till. In fact when I tested the planter it was on hard packed ground where I store equipment. Some of the rows dragged and it planted seed in the hard ground. I had a hard time digging it back out. But my fields are tilled and smooth. Not going to borrow trouble worrying about seed dropping out. Planting tomorrow finally!
