What is the difference between the Hesston 530 and 730 round baler? Is the 730 just an updated version of the 530?

I have a 5530, the predecessor to the 530. Bale is 39" wide, as big as 54" diameter. I believe the 730 is a bigger baler in width and possibly diameter.

The 730 (and 830) are just newer versions of the 530. For some reason they moved the pickup height lever from the right side to the left side of the machine. That was the most obvious change for me. Bale chamber is still 39" wide x 54" diameter. Though a 48" diameter roll is about the most I ever get out of my 530 or 5530. Massey Ferguson markets the same baler as a model 1734 I think.

I like them, some folks on this site do not. Simple design and easy to work on. Really do not require much maint. & repair.

OK, I yield to superior knowledge. As many versions of the same
basic machine have been made, I can't keep track of 4 brands, and
more numbers. Will just say I am pleased to NOT be square baling,
any more, thanks to this baler...

DiyDave,

I am right with you on that. Getting that 5530 made life easier around here. Especially after getting that set of bale ramps from that guy in Maryland!
