Nice job. Here in Carroll county Missouri I never see jointers. I am curious about their merit. Any thoughts or knowledge?
 
Jointers or Skimmers as Harry Ferguson originally called them are there to cut a 2-3 inch slice off of the top of the furrow and throw it to the bottom of the furrow ahead of the main furrow slice. It keeps weeds,stubble,etc...from sticking out between the furrow slices.

Yes we call them Skimmers in The UK. If conditions permit, I would not like to plow without them, they do a terrific job of getting the trash underneath out of the way.
