3 bottom plow

I have a 3 bottom plow trying to sell, no luck. If I drop 1 plow will it do just as well. It seems like a 2 bottom plow sells better.

I take it that it is a Pull-Type plow..?

3x14" or 3x16"..?? It makes a difference..

Three bottom plows are popular..list it..!

Ron.

Advertise as a 3 and state in add that one bottom can be dropped to make it 2 bottom.

Now is the time of the year to sell a plow, if no luck.

I would drop one plow, normally the center plow and advertise it as a 2 plow.

Many times the rear plow has the furrow wheel or a longer land slide which is necessary for proper operation.

Then if they say, "I really need a 3 plow unit, you can tell them you can fix them up."

Maxwell,
Are you for real? You as stated would "normally drop center bottom, and advertise as 2 bottom". Guess you know nothing about a plow, or how to use one. Just for your information, that leaves a big gap of unplowed ground between the first and third bottom!!!!

Loren,
Maxwell is correct.
It is much easier to drop the center bottom than it is to change over the rear landside and tailwheerl. Of course you also remove the frame parts when you do this. so it goes back together correctly.
I did this on my Ford 101 a few years ago.
And I agree that a two bottom will sell quicker and likely for more money than a 3 bottom will as all the fellows with the small Fords and Fergusons can pull 2 but not 3 bottoms.

I"ve seen that type of msg before- a bit incomplete, but implied that you move the third bottom fwd. Good way to confuse a newbie. I wonder about all the wrenching...seems simpler to just drop the third and move the wheel/long landside fwd.

I am a certified KY redneck, guess that is just the way some of us talk.

What I ment, is remove the center plow, then move the third plow up to the position of the second plow. I would have never thought that someone would have reasoned that I ment just leave the second plow hole empty.

Again many old plows need the rear plow hardware furrow wheel or longer furrow slide to work properly.

Guess for someone who has not been around this old equipment for 50+ years, they could have misunderstood my west Ky explanation.

I never figured myself for a Red Neck but I knew exactly what you meant. I did the same thing to my I-H 3-16 mounted plow. It was easier to drop the rear bottom, then the second bottom, then hook the rear bottom to the front bottom to make it a 2-16 plow.
After looking at it that was easier then taking the rear guide wheel off the third bottom and attaching it to the seond bottom.

Maxwell,
OK, maybe he could pull all three bottoms off the shanks and sell it as a three shank subsoiler. HeHe. Got your gist now. Works for me.
