Adding a wheel to a 601 corn picker

Has anybody ever thought about doing this. I picked my corn with my 601 mounted on a Ferguson TO-20. Thats quite a load for those tractors, but the manual says they will work on 8N,NAA,600 or 800. I'm sure the 600 or 800 is far better, but to help alleviate some of the weight on the right side I had thought about adding a wheel on the frame. Probably about the point where the stand is on that side. Anybody ever done it or thought about it?

If your fields are perfectly flat it might work. If you have any hills or soft spots you might end up in a situation where the wheel on the picker was taking the weight off the right wheel of the tractor and that could cause problems if I am imagining it correctly.

mills farm and fleet has a spring loaded caster for gates that is rated for 200 lbs an 8 in rubber tire is probably too small for loose ground. may have to make something with a larger wheel but this may give you some idea their number52772

Our corn fields in hilly NE Kans had small ditches in them. IF a wheel the size of an old side rake crazy wheel under weight had dropped in one of them, I think it would have bent the shaft the wheel was mounted on, at least, if not bent more.
