John Deere L M series 1 spreader

I am looking for info on a spreader: wood sides, the tag has been painted over, but I think it says "John Deere model L & M, series 1." I don"t know value; a guy wants to give me $300 for it. Any info about this spreader and its value would be so helpful.

Need to know wich it is, a 2 wheel L or 4 wheel M. But sounds like in good working shape way low, and if it would be on steel the 4 wheel M would be worth around a thousand in Amish area. 2 wheel slightly less.
