Waltzing through Local Farm store..and thought I'd check out the baling twine price.. up $1.00 again per box..$31.99 per.. looking back at my records 2012-$29.99.....2014-$30.99.....2014-$31.99 this is for orangeline..which has worked well for me in my 273..

At least your farm store stocks twine. The farm store here thought I was on drugs when I ask where they kept the baler twine. They pretty much just cater to the western wear appearral and dog food. Tractor and REAL farm mechandise just don"t have much appeal around here apparently. I get so disgusted I try to buy online when I need something now as the stock answer to most of my inquirys is they might be able order it. bjr

I thought I saw a thread about this topic somewhere else online about a shortage of Brazilian Sisal. So last week when I was in the local Tractor Supply I asked if they had any sisal twine in stock. It is about a month ahead of anyone baling hay in my neck of the woods. They had maybe a dozen bales of 9,000 there. I bought two at $46 each!! Ouch, but beats the heck out of seeing an empty shelf in a month. I could use plastic, but have never used it before and am apprehensive about changing over. I think the shelf price on that for 9,000 was $32.

I don't know what our local Co-Op here in Spring Hill, Tennessee, uses for a source, but they have 9,000 foot, green, sisal for $39.50 per bundle. I bought one a couple of weeks ago just to have it when haying season starts.

I noticed twine on display at our TSC yesterday, up a dollar or 2 on plastic and 4 or 5 on sisal.

Ask around at the feed stores on their prices, talk to local farmers too. I found out theres a local guy that buys wholesale lots of twine and is quite a bit less expensive than the tractor dealers or TSC type places.
