International 700 Plow

Trying to get our new to us 700 5 bottom plow hooked up to the 1456. It has an in furrow hitch on it but also has a hydraulic cylinder on the hitch to move it side to side, I plan to take it off and bolt it back according to manual. The book says to set the tires 32 inches out, but I was reading another forum and it says it should be 41, which one is right? The tires on the tractor are 20.8 x 38

Can't help with tread setting, but taking a sidehill hitch cylinder off a semi mount plow is a big mistake.

Doesn"t the 700 have several bolt holes on the hitch to set the plow to the right or left as desired?

If it does leave the wheels set where you want them then set the hitch to where you take a full width cut on the front bottom.

If it is 16 inch bottoms you want to take a 16 inch cut if it is 14"s then set it on the hitch to take 14.

32" center of tractor to inside of tire would be very close, for 16-18" plows. You will be shooting yourself in the foot if you take off the sidehill hitch option, unless you have perfectly level ground. That is how you make on the go corrections for tractor and plow lateral drift on slopes.

About the only reason to take the sidehill cylinder off is if it leaks badly.

If it doesn't leak, keep it on there. It is handy.

You should always set your tractor wheel to fit your plow. Your plow book will tell you where your center of draft is on your plow.

It"s a handy feature even if the land is not very hilly. Curves, etc. on flat land...makes for a smoother job.

Alright well I will leave the sidehill hitch on it, I guess I didn"t realize what it was. Im used to full three point hitch plows. The spacing on the tractor is at 29 now so I might try to hitch it up to see how much of a cut it is taking. Could I just use the sidehill to push it over where I want it or will that push the center of the draft too far to the away that it won"t pull right?
