246 Planter help ?

I bought a 246 last fall and one of the dry fertilizer hoppers and agitator was missing.
I found a set of used hoppers and a used agitator and bought them.
Now a buddy said you cant switch sides , that theres a left and right side feed plate that wont switch sides.
The # on the one came with it is H 2173 B
and the one I bought has the same #.
So did I mess up and what is the # of the one I need ?
