New Holland 855 finally home now questions

I finally picked up my 855 NH round Baler this weekend. Reading the manual and learning about it. Did find one of the Chain Oiler tanks has the top broke out of it. Wondering if anyone here has found a more reasonable replacement for these than the approximately $150.00 that New Holland wants for just the plastic jug??? I was thinking a 2 gallon oil jug may fit, has anyone attempted to make their own using one???

Also, wondering if others have used a standard air pressure gauge when needing to replace the pressure gauge that New Holland want's almost $125.00 for? I see a 0 to 200 standard air pressure gauge is $10.00.... I think I could color code it with a sharpe and save over a hundred bucks.

I got a new to me 855 late last year, still learning. The switches in the auto tie have me confused and finished the year on manual. New Holland is running out of parts for them and the ones they have are pricey.

I got lucky and found one with Auto-Tie, it appears to be in fairly good shape, just a few things to learn and fix, Two biggest issues appear to be the bad Pressure gauge and one of the Chain Oiler tanks the top is broken out. I am looking at replacing with something other than their $145 dollar tank, or possibly trying to patch the top with something. Found that a stock pressure gauge is $10.00, versus the New Holland one for $125.00.

Thats what I did...been running it 8-9 years now with the $10 gauge, just marked the high and low limits with a line of yellow paint, easier to see than a sharpie.

Thanks Fred! I have been looking at the chain oiler tank, I think I could use a 2 1/2 gallon Oil jug, it appears as long as one does not fill the jug higher than the outlet fitting, it should work just fine. A heck of allot cheaper than their price on the tank. So far I think I am going to like this baler much better than the 851 though.

The 855's (and their smaller brothers) were the last of the NH chain balers...NH pretty much had it figured out by then.

Let us know how the jug works..how you mount it...buddy of mine has an 851, was thinking about adding oilers to it.
