April Combining

Finally finished the last couple of acres of corn. Massy 300 diesel wouldn't start when it got cold, then it snowed. It was the never ending winter! Turned out OK though. Corn ran 14.6 moist. and 57.6 tw. Lost some cause I had to keep the head on the ground to pick up the goosenecks then some tall ones flew over the top of the head. But, no drying chg. and no lines at the co-op.
Good thing it's just a hobby.

Nice looking Massey. Yours is the first 300 diesel I have seen. It's probably a good feeling to get the corn out after fretting about it all winter. I combined corn on Easter Sunday (yes, I'm a heathen) one time but it was only a few rows that had drifted in on the edge of the field the previous fall. Jim

phulbert; welcome new user. Thanks for sharing that great photo. I'm lookin' around...field stone barn wall, lightning rods and balls, I gotta quite lookin' at that Farmall as I might find myself........

That makes two of us. I had a gasser. I never realized they made a diesel smaller than a 410.

I felt bad combining corn in the snow one Thangsgiving day.

Another year I finished in Feb, the corn never dried that year,
was still wet in February but we get snow here you don't
wait.....

Nice picture, bet you get a block heater of some sort on it for
next year. ;)

I can tell the corn is dry. Look at the dust coming up from the wagon. Did not know they ever put a diesel in a 300. What engine is it? My 410 had a 4 cylinder Perkins.

Neighbor here combined some beans last week. Planted late (July) in floodplain after corn drowned. Still green when frost and snow came. Heard he got 25 bu/acre. The field was under water again yesterday.
