Gehl Shred-All green chopper Model SA-21 value

Hello-

I have located an old Gehl Shred-All model SA21 green chopper. Seems to be complete. What would be the value of this chopper? Mainly want to use it to mow down weeds and grass in an old pasture area and along field edges. Looks like all the teeth are there, and it turns over freely. Also, bearings seem good on cutter bar. This chopper has been sitting for a long time. Is scrap value what I should offer? Any idea on the weight of this machine? Thanks in advance!

No idea what that even looks like, but a model 72 green chopper weighs just a fuzz under 2000. If you can compare the 2 you could get a better idea.

Don-

thanks for the reply. It is the upright kind, with the end of the snout that pivots. Will try to attach some pics. Thanks!

I remember those now that you posted the pictures. I couldn't even remember Gehl building a flail chopper until I saw the pictures. IHC,Lundell and MC had similar units.

Never seen one like that. I'd imagine that would still be within a few hundred pounds of the 72.

Around here just about everyone had the Gehl 72 or 7200. A few had random New Hollands. Even fewer John Deere, Fox and bear cat.

Well, I bought an operators/parts manual on EBAY for $8 with free shipping for this Gehl flail chopper. Figured it would have a weight listed somewhere in it. Also, I am optimistic that I can buy this machine from the owner, as I do a lot of business with him. At least I can know what it is worth in scrap value if a weight is listed.

I think it's on one of the first pages for the 72, so again it should be similar. We bought a 72 from my neighbor a few years ago based on that weight. Paid $200 and drug it home. Ended up using parts from his abd the one dad already had and made one good one from the 2.
