Vermeer 605 Super G Horse Power Required

Does anyone have a manual and can tell me what the HP requirement for the baler is. Thanks

I want to say 50-70hp? Neighbor has one and runs it with an 806 IH. Plenty of tractor for the baler.

We had an F series which is very similar to the G and found 75 horse was absolute minimum on level land. When get into the hills 100hp is much better. You can reduce horsepower requirements by lowering chamber pressure but you end up with a mushy bale that will not store or transport as well.

according to the operators manual the 605 super G is designed for 60 to 70HP.That being said I've been using a 9600 Ford for many years with no problems here in the Knapp hill country.Although at one time I used a 730 JD diesel the only problem with that was the hydraulics were to slow.

I am running my 605H with a JD 2550 4 cyl diesel 65hp. I generally run a 5x5 bale. A 5x6 makes it snort... The 5x5 runs about 1200 lbs. I have calcium in the tires so the tractor weighs around 9000 lbs. I would not want to run this with a much lighter tractor...
