NH 355 MECHANICAL GRINDER HO NEEDED

IM LOOKING AT BUYING A NH 355 GRINDER MIXER IN EXCELLENT COND. MY CONCERN IS I HAVE A CASE JX 1080u 80 HP 70HP ON PTO IS THIS ENOUGHT TRACTOR TO OPERATE THIS GRINDER MIXER
 
Should be. I've got a 354. The guy I bought it from always ran it with a 56 horse Oliver 1600. I use my 90 horse 1850,but I've run it just fine with my 1600 and my 53 horse 1550.
 
I run my JD 400 with a 30 PTO hp. Although I only do it when my big, 40 hp tractor, is tied up on something else. I grind ear corn although at my age I don't get in a big hurry shoveling it in. The book shows a 4020 hooked up to it.

I don't know the model but my BTO neighbor runs a fairly new New Holland with a 50 hp tractor. He has lots of bigger tractors sitting there so it must run it OK. He grinds shelled corn with it.
 
JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE MY TRACTOR WAS BIG ENOUGH TO RUN IT BEFORE BUYING,IM ONLY GRINDING CORN AND OATS WITH OCCASIONAL ALFALFA IF THE COWS ARE LUCKY
 
I've got a 355. It will run it but it ain't gonna run it fast. I've got a TS90 supposed to be rated for 70 PTO and supposedly 77 actual... it gets along OK but the feed rate needs to be limited. My 7710 that's turning over 100 does a lot better job but even that can load down pretty good sometimes. Don't expect yours to set the world on fire but it should be sufficient. I've run it on 60 hp in that past. That's rather slow.

I grind my feed in my JD 400 with a Farmall M. A 50 HP tractor give or take. I put corn into as fast as it can go up the auger. It never has a problem. I also put a bale of alfalfa in it. That will make it bark if I add it more than a flake at a time. I enjoy grinding so it doesn't bother me to slow down a little then.

I grind corn for one other neighbor and use the same tractor - probably 150 bushels at a time.

The M's only other job is as my loader tractor. It's probably good for it to get worked hard every few weeks.
