IH 22 sickle mower parts

Recently bought a Super A that came with the 22 sickle mower. A bush hog or belly mower would fit my needs better but the sickle mower would be nice to have. The mower looks in good shape but the rest need work. One end of the pitman bar is cracked and the mounting arms are broke. also the rear drive pulley has a piece broken off. Where can i find parts and are they available or should I just scrap it and look for a better one in working condition?

The pitman arm can be welded up I have done more then one over the years. The pully depending on what it is can be replaced with a blank and welded up also

Any ideas on the mid mounts? They have been broken and welded many times with pieces stitched in and washers welded on as shims that i have no idea what the original mount would have looked like. The gentleman i bought the tractor from said it always broke the mounts so they quit using it.

Again I would make my own but I have done metal fab stuff for decades. I have a sickle mower a lot like that on my BA which is a tractor I built form half of a B an the other half an A. But its mower sits behind it

Send me an email and I will attach a drawing showing what the front mounting bracket looks like. Front mounting bracket probably broke because they didn't keep it tight. Pulley may work fine like it is depending on how big a piece is missing. Don't scrap it.

IH made a 'boatload' of different mowers. Many of them had many interchangeable parts.Dont scrap!!! the next mower may have some different broken parts.Together you can makeup one good mower and have a stock oh replacement parts.I do that type of thing frequently. It's about the only way to farm.....

Looking at CIH parts online, that type of pitman bearing was used from 1972 and up, so it looks like you have a fairly "new" mower!

The part # of the flange is 481169R1, and is still available for about $100.00 If you GOOGLE "IH 481169R1", you will find new and good used sources for less.

I brought up a new one because, even though it likely CAN be easily welded, it takes a heck of a beating in use and may have other cracks forming, and not last long if repaired.

Another issue is that the bearing likely pounded the opening that holds it out-of-round, and if the flange is not repaired in a way that it the fits the bearing snugly all the way around, it will hammer in the bore until it breaks.

Thanks to everyone for all your help. I will post a picture of the mounting arms I have tomorrow and hopefully someone will know if either one is factory or even correct, one is broke and the other is a patched up welded mess. Another question: I plan on taking the mower bar apart to clean as it has some rust. Should I lube the cutter bar and if so with what product.

Thanks again,
Tim

Pull the knife out and sharpen each section with an angle grinder (wear gloves). Check to make sure all the sections are tight. Shake each of the guards on the cutter bar and make sure they are tight. You can oil the knife a little with some motor oil before you slide it back in. Once you get the knife back in you can put some grease on the tip side of the knife where the hold downs rub it. Grease and oil won't stay on the cutter bar anyway, once you start using it.

This is what I have for the mid mounts. If I mount the rear of the flywheel shaft to the tractor should the shaft run parallel to the ground?
Thanks again for everyones help.
