new planter

neighbor just had a new kinze planter delivered.
must be at least 40 ft wide.
folds up so it can be transported down the road.

must not be a really big one as I assume a 60ft + wide planter would have to be delivered in parts to the farm, then assembled.

all I can say is "WOW" what a planter, makes my little two row John Deere look pretty bad.

But, hey Jack, I can plant a small garden spot or truck patch that he could not even turn around in, like to see him out there trying to plant a small sweet corn patch for mama bear with that big monster.

Around me we still look at the big 24 row planters...

But that's all small scale stuff.

The JD 120 now that's a planter.....

120 feet, 48 row.

Paul,
JD 120, now that is a really big planter.
that deserves a double WOW,

wonder just how many ac he could cover in a long day of planting with a 120.

after that my neighbors new planter looks like a toy,

When I was spraying with a 90' boom, I could cover 1,000 acres on a really good day. Ran around 15 mph. Simple math gets a theoretical 87 acres per hour at 6 mph 120' wide. Good fields with fast reloads maybe 60-70 acres an hour. Deere has some new setup they claim is accurate at 10 mph. That'd be 145 acres per hour at 100% efficiency.

My part of the woods you will not see bigger than 16 30", had the corn king of the area planting for a guy with a brand new jd 24 20" and it go away on him and down in to the woods he went, planter did not fair well, tractor was okay.

Here in the North-East with our rocks, hills and small fields a 4 row planter would be large.
I would have a hard time just turning something that wide around in my yard. lol
